The ring and pinion assembly in your Ford gets too damaged or worn out, and you'll start to have serious trouble driving. Not only will that have pricey consequences -- the differential may need to be rebuilt or replaced -- but you'll probably end up in an accident, too. Our advice: replace the assembly as soon as you see signs it's going bad. Here at Ford Parts Center, we stock one of the biggest and best selections of OEM ring and pinion parts for Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles both here in Bartow FL and nationwide. Take advantage of low prices; order now. We offer fast shipping anywhere in the US.

Ford Ring and Pinion Assemblies 101

The ring and pinion in your Ford is a combo of two gears comprising its differential, driveshaft-powered, whose job it is to power the wheels. How they work is part of a process, one that starts with the driveshaft turning the pinion shaft and gear (splined to the ring) and helping move the carrier gears and axle shafts. The result: a differential that can take power from the transmission and use it to spin the wheels at different speeds during turns, to maintain traction.

Signs of a Faulty Ring and Pinion Assembly

Look for damage, wear, and looseness or slipping. Also, feel for the tires wobbling and drifting while turning, and listen for clunking or banging noises when you do. In any case, run an inspection and replace differential parts accordingly, the ring and pinion included.

The Average Cost of Ring and Pinion Assembly Replacement

You might be looking at hundreds to thousands of dollars, assuming you have the job done at a Ford dealer. You can save a little money by going DIY, if you've got the skillset; just follow any directions in your owner's manual or other manufacturer's documentation closely.
