What Do Ford A/C Switches Do?

They allow you to manage your air conditioning system to deliver the personalized level of comfort you want. That includes the visible dash switches for the power, blower, temperature, and airflow direction. However, there are also hidden switches that control parts of the system, such as the condenser fan switch, A/C clutch switch, and pressure switch. Let's learn why these are critical.

Condenser Fan Switch

As the name implies, this switch controls the speed of the condenser fan. That allows for optimal performance.

A/C Clutch Switch

This switch controls the evaporator core's temperature, preventing either extreme highs or extreme lows.

Pressure Switch

The pressure switch will turn the compressor clutch off when the pressure inside rises or falls suddenly. That keeps the compressor from getting damaged.

How To Spot Faulty A/C Switches

As you'd expect, even one bad switch can make life less pleasant. If you find that you can't maintain an even cabin temperature, or that your A/C seems to be working harder to cool you than before, you may have a faulty switch in the system.
