  • Search by a part name. Example: water pump.
  • Be less specific. Example: brake instead of ceramic brake.
  • Remove information such as make, year or model.

The AC condenser in your Ford, Lincoln, or Mercury vehicle fails, and the car air conditioning will stop working right. That'll not only make the interior you love uncomfortable on warm days. It'll mean more (and costlier) AC repairs, too. Our advice: see signs that the condenser's going bad, and you should replace it -- and sooner rather than later, to keep expenses down. Luckily, we stock a huge selection here at Ford Parts Center: one of the best in Bartow FL and nationwide. It's OEM, too, top-quality and made to fit and work right the first time. Take advantage of competitive prices and fast US shipping; buy today.

Ford AC Condensers 101

The condenser is a critical part of a car AC. It does for an air conditioner what a radiator helps do for an engine: helps keep it as cool as it can be, so it can do its job right. Found between the grille and the radiator, it's where gaseous refrigerant both expels its heat and gets converted to a liquid state.

How a condenser works is part of a process run by the AC compressor. What happens, once the refrigerant's a fluid, is the fluid travels through an expansion valve, where it turns into a gas again, but this time, at a lower pressure. An evaporator and fan then cool the gas, and the chilled air that results gets passed through air ducts, out vents, and into the cabin.

Signs the Condenser in Your Ford AC is Bad

They include a lit HVAC warning light, frost buildup, a flashing AC button, discharge pressure issues, a failed cooling fan, a clogged cabin air filter, and perhaps most obviously, the vents not blowing cold. (If no air's coming through the vents at all, though, the problem's more likely a faulty blower motor.)

Average Condenser Replacement Costs

Changing a condenser might run you $640 to $775, according to recent RepairPal data. That's if you have the job done at a Ford service center. Cost can also vary by model, however. Ford F-150 condenser replacement, for example, might run $675 to $740; Lincoln MKZ condenser replacement, between $580 and $680; Mercury Mariner condenser replacement, $425 to $505, and so on.
